Inconsistent communication, processes and implementation of the Scheme. This often results in Participants with the least knowledge or ability to communicate about the NDIS receiving insufficient funding or funding cuts.
There is a lot of fear and critical opinions of the NDIS which detract from the success of the scheme. As a result, Parents and Carers may be afraid to utilise the choice and control deliberately set up to help Participants.
Like all major government functions, design and implementation is complex. We are priviledged to have the NDIS. This is not an excuse and in time and with appropriate proactive engagement, Asista believes that there will be a net improvement to the NDIS once the changes are implemented.
Yes! Asista customises support and training to help Parents and Carers apply for the most appropriate funding. This support is into the detail of which codes should be requested and how they can be applied within the NDIS guidelines.
Funding increases achieved in Plan Reviews and Change of Circumstances range from 76%-300%
In many cases, yes. However, many clients prefer to pay out of pocket and quickly learn how they are better off financially as a result of sessions with Asista.
Why is this? Reach out to Jen and find out!
We pride ourselves in being Trauma and Psychosocial informed, LGBTQIA+, neuroaffiriming, all family structures and more. We support clients caring for others with no diagnosis or with diagnosis such as Autism, ADHD, Psychosocial (many terms), Aspegers (no longer exists, but some still use the term) and more.
This results in fit-for-purpose support customised to the family.
Our client base includes mums, dads, aunts, grandparents, divorces, domestic violence relationships, happy and unhappy couples and more.
The Participant is the person the Parent or Carer is supporting. It is also the term used by the NDIS referring to the person with a disability.
Asista is proud of providing the support you want and not pushing services. However, since you clearly have an interest, please know that ideal sessions are as follows:
~ Initial set of two sessions, each lasting 1-1.5 hours
~ Follow up sessions every 3-5 weeks
Yes and the volume of sessions required may vary on a case by case basis. Often, more sessions are needed to identify the most appropriate supports. This is because there are years (sometimes decades!) of "unsuccessful" attempts to support the Participant. These needs to be adequately considered in light of current and changing support options as well as Participant evolving needs and concurrent supports.
Why is unsuccessful in quotes? Please contact Jen to explain.
It varies. The Parents and Carer supported by Asista look after Participants of varying ages. The youngest Participant is five years old. The eldest Participant is in their 40s. Many of the Parents and Carers supported by Asista have multiple children.
No. Most clients are self-funded and recognise the need for help. They quickly recognise their money and time savings as well as stress relief from receiving support. Most also gain knowledge of financial and non financial benefits (government, commuity and more) from Asista.
Yes, Asista provides support and training to the Parents and Carers that ultimately helps siblings. Asista also connects you to the many resources that are available.
A key purpose of Asista is human connection. Meaningful outcomes are increased exponentially with human interaction. While AI and search engines help, a human conversation is more likely rule a possible solution or action in or out.
Sometimes success is confirmation that a decision to rule a solution or action out was correct.
Parents and carers are often burned out from the effort required to provide support. Communication and collaboration with Asista helps reduce overall effort.
No, and we are asked that a lot. We don't book appointments nor reduce your administration effort as done by Support Coordinators. Also, we don't charge for phone calls <15 minutes and we are clear when charging starts and finishes.
Rather, we provide support and training that makes Support Coordination more efficient.

The volume of Providers and options is often overwhelming. Asista supports you to decide what matters most.
Asista has noticed that support provided is often specific to the reason the support was sought (e.g. Speech Therapists can only recommend Speech Therapy Supports). For that reason, letters do not always adequately document NDIS funding requirements.
However, some Allied Health Professionals can recommend Supports outside of their area of specialty. Asista can help you nagivate this, provide example wording and more.
It's never too late. Reach out, let's make a plan together.

Asista provides some Parent and Carer support for Participants with suicidal ideation. Generally this involves connecting with relevant services, supporting report preparation and NDIS documentation. Others are far better trained to help with the specific challenges.
